Autism

Autism Foundation
- The mission of the Autism Foundation is to create a more inclusive and supportive world for autistic individuals and their families. They strive to empower individuals and families to access resources and build connections. Through their programs, they aim to provide support, education, and advocacy to those in need.
- The Autism Foundation has compiled a list of many grants and resources available to individuals with autism; click here to view.
Autism Care Today
- Autism Care Today (ACT) is a national nonprofit 501(c)3 organization whose mission is to raise awareness and provide treatment services and support to families to help their children with autism achieve their full potential. Their goal is to introduce and help facilitate early and on-going treatment by providing the necessary resources (including referrals, funding and guidance) to individuals with autism and their families. ACT offers a grant program for assessments, treatments, and life supports that may not otherwise be covered privately or by other third-party funding sources such as school districts, county programs, insurance, and/ or other grant making entities.

  - Proof of autism diagnosis and recommended treatment from your doctor or school Individualized Educational Program (IEP)
  - Proof of cost for medical treatment, programs or materials
  - Proof of family income with a copy of your tax return or proof of any other income (such as SSI, SDI, child support, etc.)

Autism Spectrum Disorder Foundation
- The goal of Autism Spectrum Disorder Foundation (ASDF) is to support children with an autism spectrum disorder by providing information, education, and financial assistance to their families and relevant community service organizations.
  - Holiday Gift Card Program: ASDF partners with autism organizations across the country that help in selecting and distributing Holiday Gift Cards to families who have the greatest need for financial assistance. These e-gift cards provide hope and a helping hand during the holiday season, hope and joy to the families who receive them.
  - Summer Scholarship Program: ASDF provides partial and full scholarships to
    those families who need financial assistance to send their children to camp.
Association for Autism and Neurodiversity
- The Association for Autism and Neurodiversity (AANE) helps Autistic and similarly Neurodivergent people build meaningful, connected lives. They provide individuals, families, and professionals with education, community and support, in an inclusive atmosphere of validation and respect.
- The Daniel Braun Memorial Scholarship Fund provides financial assistance for a limited number of Autistic adults and teens who need help paying for group recreational and/or social activities.
  - Requirements:
    - 12 y/o or older
    - Live in the U.S.
    - Must have an Autism Spectrum Disorder or related diagnosis (e.g. Asperger Syndrome)
    - Income must not exceed 200% of the 2024 Federal Poverty Level (FPL):
      - $30,120 for an individual
      - $40,880 for a family of 2
      - $51,640 for a family of 3
      - $62,400 for a family of 4
      - $73,160 for a family of 5
      - $83,920 for a family of 6

The Care Foundation
- The CARE Foundation is an organization devoted to improving the future for all who struggle with autism spectrum disorders.
- The CARE Grant Program is for helping families with medication, autism diagnosis/evaluation, therapy sessions (including speech, OT and ABA,) and autism summer camps.
- Requirements
  - Anybody who has a child diagnosed with autism, lives within the US and has an income level less than $75,000 per year for the entire household can apply to this grant.
  - Before the grant is awarded, proof of ASD diagnosis from medical professionals as well as IRS Tax forms indicating the household income need to be provided.
Doug Folutie Jr. Foundation for Autism
- The Flutie Foundation was founded on the principle belief that providing direct financial support to individuals and families affected by autism is paramount to the progress of an autistic person.
- Joey's Fund: Grant that provides direct financial support to people with autism.
- Kodi Lee Gives Back Grant: Provides grants to autism self-advocates 13 years of age and older in pursuit of fine arts and music-related classes, scholarships, therapies, music equipment, and more.
- Allison Keller Education Technology Program: Goal of this program is to help fill the financial and technological gap for schools and organizations that assist individuals with autism.
- Dick & Judy Hoyt Grant for Inclusion: Can be used to fund resources that will allow an individual with autism to participate in recreational activities with non-disabled peers.
MyGOAL
- MyGOAL exists to support families and individuals affected by autism and other intellectual disabilities throughout their lifespan.
- Offers a need-based grant for treatments (including vitamins and other nutritional needs); enrichment and educational needs that may not otherwise be covered privately or by other third-party funding sources such as school districts, county programs, insurance, and/or other grant-making entities.

Varghese Summersett Autism Scholarship
- This scholarship is intended to assist a deserving autistic child who needs financial aid for educational or recreational opportunities. The award may be used towards a camp, tutoring, education, or other tools to help the student progress and live a fulfilling, happy life.

Cancer

Lucy Love Bus
- The mission of Lucy Love Bus is to deliver joy, comfort, and quality of life to children with cancer and their families through free integrative therapies and holistic support.
- Lucy's Love Bus delivers comfort to children with cancer by paying for integrative therapies that help to balance traditional cancer care and improve the quality of life for a child. They offer funding awards in increments of $500 for anyone living in or being treated in New England who was diagnosed with cancer before the age of 21 years, either currently undergoing treatment or suffering from the late effects of cancer treatment. They connect families to local integrative therapists and pay practitioners directly for their services.

Mia's Miracles
- Mia’s Miracles provides small blessings with large impacts, bringing smiles and positivity to children and families facing challenging circumstances. The Mia’s Miracles Financial Assistance Fund offers a one-time $2,000 grant to eligible patients with cancer. The fund will cover expenses related to transportation, lodging, housing, utilities, childcare and nutritional needs related to patients’ treatments.
- Requirements:
  - Patients must have a confirmed diagnosis of brain cancer, any type, any stage, and be in active treatment, confirmed by the patient’s treating physician and/or his designee.
  - Patients must be under the age of 18.
  - Applicants must have a current annual household income at or below 500% of the Federal Poverty Line.
  - Patients must be US citizens or permanent residents and reside in the US or US territories.
  - Patients must not have received a financial award from this fund in the past 12 months.

Cerebral Palsy

Alyssa V Phillips Foundation
- The purpose of the Alyssa V Phillips Foundation is to support individuals with Cerebral Palsy (CP) with a focus on assisting children with CP, the families of children with CP, or any individual impacted by CP in maximizing independence.
- The Foundation may provide financial support to those impacted by CP so that they can receive ongoing and necessary therapy treatments or medical equipment to increase independence where such benefits are not covered by medical insurance.

United Cerebral Palsy of MetroBoston
- For over 70 years, UCP has provided support and services to individuals with cerebral palsy and other physical, intellectual, and developmental disabilities including issues of aging. UCP promotes full inclusion in all aspects of society. They join over 55 affiliates within the United States and Canada who strive to attain the full inclusion of people with disabilities in every facet of society.
- They offer financial assistance including adaptive equipment, care supplies, or medical supplies up to $500.00 per individual per year.

- UCP Campership Program: Anyone in need of assistance supplementing their summer camp costs in the UCP of MetroBoston area is welcomed to apply. Includes a stipend of up to $250 per applicant.

Down Syndrome

Global Down Syndrome Foundation
- The Global Down Syndrome Foundation is a public non-profit 501(c)3 organization dedicated to significantly improving the lives of people with Down syndrome through Research, Medical Care, Education and Advocacy.
- They offer both educational and employment awards.
  - Education: Award applications must be for a program, conference, workshop, or webinar related to research, medical care, and/or health outcome improvements for children and/or adults with Down syndrome. Target audiences may include people with Down syndrome, family members, and professionals.
  - Employment: Award applications must be submitted with a specific employee or employment program in mind. Examples of successful awards include underwriting for a hire, job coach, expanded hours, and vendors who employ or are run by people with Down syndrome.
National Down Syndrome Society
- National Down Syndrome Society (NDSS) empowers individuals with Down syndrome and their families by driving policy change, providing resources, engaging with local communities, and shifting public perceptions.

Varghese Summersett Down Syndrome Scholarship
- The attorneys and legal professionals at Varghese Summersett believe in giving back to the community, especially with causes close to their hearts. Three members of their legal team have children with special needs, and in an effort to recognize and honor them, they are proud to offer the annual Varghese Summersett Down Syndrome Scholarship.
- This scholarship is intended for a deserving child with Down syndrome who is in need of financial aid to support educational or recreational opportunities. The award may be used towards a camp, tutoring, education, or other tools to help the student thrive, prosper, and have a fulfilling life.

Spinal Cord Injury

Project 34
- Project 34 is a 501(c)3 nonprofit organization with the purpose of serving as a means for all individuals living with a spinal cord injury to receive the support they need, and instill the belief in themselves to recover and live a fulfilling life.
- Project 34 assists with the purchasing of medical equipment and assistive devices that may not be otherwise accessible to a patient, as well as provides grants to individuals to afford physical therapy for optimal function.

SCORE (Spinal Cord Opportunities for Rehabilitation Endowment)
- SCORE is a non-profit organization that provides modest financial grants to people paralyzed while participating in sports or recreational activities. SCORE assists with some of the out-of-pocket costs for items or services that will
  improve the grant recipient’s quality of life.
- SCORE offers a grant that may be used to acquire sport chairs for tennis, rugby, basketball, hand-cycles, bathroom renovations, permanent ramp into a home, adaptive fitness equipment, physical therapy and hand-controls.
- Requirements:
  - Sustained a spinal cord injury
  - Were paralyzed while participating in non-motorized sports or athletic recreation activity
  - Have a demonstrated financial need.
  - SCORE does not fund grants for individuals injured while participating in motocross or using all-terrain-vehicles (ATVs), or from accidents related to motorcycles, motor vehicles or violence.
  - Grants are typically only available to residents of the U.S. and Canada. We will consider applicants from outside these areas, but to-date none have been approved.

Thomas E. Smith Foundation
- The Thomas E. Smith Foundation is a 501(c)3 non-profit organization whose mission is to better the lives of those affected by and living with spinal cord injury (SCI) and paralysis through financial and emotional support, as well as supporting preventive innovations that decrease the risk of spinal cord injuries.
- Quality of Life Grants are awarded to paraplegics and quadriplegics paralyzed due to spinal cord injury. They may be used to cover: specific modifications, equipment, therapy, medical expenses, etc. (Examples include upgrade and maintenance of wheelchairs, vehicle modifications, transportation costs, small home modifications, computers, and other adaptive equipment.)
- Requirements:
  - Applicants must demonstrate financial need and may be required to provide documentation
  - Grants are disbursed directly to suppliers of the desired equipment or modifications
  - Individuals applying for the grant are required to submit estimates from potential suppliers
  - There is NO age requirement associated with grant eligibility
Triumph Foundation
- The Triumph Foundation assists people with spinal cord injury (SCI) to get necessary equipment, supplies, and services.
- Triumph’s Keep Moving Forward Grant is for people with spinal cord injury that have limited financial capability to help them triumph over obstacles they face and enhance their quality of life. Triumph’s KMF Grants help individuals get necessary Adaptive Equipment for activities of daily living, make Home Modifications for wheelchair accessibility, enable the Return to Work reintegrating back into the community, and engage in Therapeutic Activities for health and wellness.
- Requirements:
  - Applicants must be citizens of the United States of America, with priority given to Southern California residents. Applications are reviewed by Board of Directors every 30-90 days, the maximum grant is $2,000 when funds are available, and are paid directly to the vendor (no cash assistance to individuals).
  - Partial Payments toward larger items (i.e. vehicles) will not be considered unless all payments are already in place for the total amount. For example, if requesting $2,000 toward a $20,000 purchase, you must have already obtained $18,000 to complete the transaction.

Other/ Unspecified Disabilities

Angelman Syndrome Foundation
- The mission of the Angelman Syndrome Foundation (ASF) is to advance the awareness and treatment of Angelman syndrome through education and information, research, and support for individuals with Angelman syndrome, their families and other concerned parties.
- The ASF Family Fund was created to provide financial assistance to families supporting individuals with Angelman syndrome. Family members can apply for funds that are needed to improve the quality of life for an individual with Angelman syndrome.
- Requirements:
  - Applicant must be a caregiver (legal guardian, primary caregiver, etc) for an individual diagnosed with Angelman syndrome.
  - Request must impact an individual with Angelman syndrome.
  - Request cannot be for rent, utilities or moving expenses.
  - Applicant cannot have received a grant in the last 5 years.
  - Proof of a diagnosis of Angelman syndrome.
  - Must show evidence of impact and need.
  - An estimate or quote of the price of the item/service.
    - Evidence of cost is required for each request.
Aubrey Rose Foundation
- The Aubrey Rose Foundation honors Aubrey’s life with the following:
  - Awarding educational scholarships for students that have made an impact on the people around them.
  - Helping families with financial needs because of their children’s medical expenses.
  - Brightening the lives of sick children by organizing toy buying and holiday parties.
  - Promoting educational awareness about the need for organ donations.
- The Aubrey Rose Foundation helps families with children who are currently living with a life-threatening medical condition. Grants are awarded based on need. If a family has outstanding medical bills that insurance will not cover, the Foundation can possibly help out a family in need until the annual funds have been exhausted.

Children’s Hemiplegia and Stroke Association
- Children’s Hemiplegia and Stroke Association (CHASA) exists to improve the quality of life for children and families affected by hemiparesis or hemiplegic cerebral palsy due to pediatric stroke or a variety of other conditions. CHASA helps by providing educational information, opportunities for online and local support, support and education for children through the Kandu mascot initiative, and help with financial needs through the orthotic grant program, and educational, retreat, and athletic scholarships.
- The Let’s Play! Activity Scholarship can be used for an ongoing class or a new activity. If your child has started participating in the program earlier this year, they are still welcome to apply for a scholarship.
- Requirements:
  - Applicants must reside in the United States
  - Applicant must have a diagnosis of hemiplegia or hemiparesis (from any cause)
  - The scholarship may cover a portion of the activity, but may not cover the entire fee.
  - Programs can be an adaptive program, but do not have to be an adaptive program
DJ Henry Dream Fund
- The mission of the DJ Henry Dream Fund is to share DJ’s love of sports by providing scholarships to enable children to say yes to healthy and involved lifestyles by participating in community-based athletics, wellness, arts and summer camps. The support is not just a scholarship. It is designed to empower young people to be the best that they can be in spite of their circumstance.

  - The child has demonstrated a financial need
  - The child is between the ages of 5 - 18
  - The child is a Massachusetts resident
  - The program for which the scholarship is being requested is a community-based sports, fitness, arts, or camp program

  to healthcare for America's underinsured. They fill the gap by assisting with
  copays, premiums, deductibles, and out-of-pocket expenses. They help people with their prescription copays, pediatric treatment costs, travel costs, and behavioral health services.

Life Goes On After TBI
- Life Goes On After TBI is a 501(c)3 charity that supports the survivors of traumatic brain injuries (TBI) by fundraising, educating and distributing grants to help offset the expense of treatments and therapies that support a TBI survivor's recovery journey.
- The Life Goes On After TBI grant program serves to help others who are experiencing a financial hardship as a result of suffering a moderate to severe traumatic brain injury by distributing grants that would help offset the cost of a therapy, resource or service not covered by insurance.
- Requirements:
  - Eligible recipients of Life Goes On grants are residents of New England with moderate to severe Traumatic Brain Injuries. Funds may be requested to offset the expenses of specific resources and/or therapies that aid in the recovery of a TBI.
  - The following services are eligible: Physical Therapy, Occupational Therapy, Speech Therapy, Near Infrared Laser Light Therapy, Functional Neurology, Acupuncture, Yoga, Tai Chi, Personal Trainer, Acupuncture, Music Therapy, Adaptive Driving.

Kiddos’ Clubhouse Foundation
- Kiddos’ Clubhouse Foundation is a 501(c)3 organization that provides scholarships to families who are not able to pay for therapeutic services for their children with special needs. Kiddos’ Clubhouse Foundation raises funds through corporate and private donations, grants, events, and other fundraising activities.
- Requirements:
  - Only available to children under 21
  - Scholarships will not exceed $2,500. The funds are for payment of therapeutic services or equipment, and the Foundation will directly pay the clinic, licensed therapist, business, or the equipment vending company delivering services to the scholarship recipient. Funds are not payable directly to families or scholarship recipients.

Massachusetts Commission For The Blind
- Mass Commission For The Blind (MCB) provides individualized training, education, and empowerment to people who are legally blind, and advocate for inclusive policies across the Commonwealth, with the goal of life-long independence and full community participation.

My Gym Foundation
- The My Gym Foundation accepts applications from or on behalf of children with physical, cognitive, or developmental disabilities and those coping with chronic illness or financial struggles. Requests, limited to gifts of $500 or less, may include but are not limited to rehabilitative therapy, My Gym classes, assistive devices, medical equipment, and sensory items.
- Requirements:
  - Applicants must be under the age of 18.

National MPS Society
- The National MPS Society and its members raise money to provide student fellowships and fund research projects. They participate in and host technical conferences that allow researchers to collaborate and discuss their findings. They collaborate with other lysosomal storage disease (LSD) patient support groups and family research foundations to fund research.
- The Extraordinary Experience Program is designed to provide funding to an individual with MPS or ML for an extraordinary experience that will offer life enrichment opportunities. The experience can be used to support a special trip for education or personal growth, a camp, program, or other sponsored activity that would offer the individual an opportunity to enhance their life.
- Requirements:
  - Individuals with MPS or ML 13 years of age and older who reside in the United States and are active members of the National MPS Society are eligible for funds from the Extraordinary Experiences Program.
  - The applicant or parent/guardian must be willing to write a brief summary about their experience and submit a photo. The summary may be published in Society publications or on our website to help show the benefit of this program to others. The applicant may
    request in writing to remain anonymous.
  - Application for assistance must be made before the cost is incurred.
  - The applicant must fund a minimum of 10% of the total cost.
Oracle Health Foundation
- The Oracle Health Foundation provides pediatric grants that cover a wide variety of clinical, equipment, travel and lodging, and vehicle modification costs related to children’s healthcare needs.
- Requirements:
  - 18 y/o or younger (a person 19–21 may be considered if they are in a child-like mental state).
  - The child must be under the care of a physician.
  - The request must be clinically relevant to a specific healthcare need of the child.
  - There must be no existing insurance coverage for the requested expenses.
  - One request per 12 months, per child, for a maximum of three times in a child’s lifetime.

The Assistance Fund
- The Assistance Fund (TAF) is an independent charitable assistance foundation that helps patients and families facing high medical out-of-pocket costs to provide financial assistance. They provide help for patients with a variety of diagnoses. Eligible patients can receive financial assistance for copayments, coinsurance, deductibles, health insurance premiums and incidental medical expenses relating to travel and infusions.

  - Must be a U.S. resident with health insurance (government-sponsored or private)
  - Must meet income requirements
  - Must be diagnosed with a disease for which we have a disease program
  - Must have a prescription for an FDA-approved treatment for the disease named in the program and it must be covered by health insurance

The Stroke Foundation
- The Stroke Foundation is a registered 501(c)3 organization that provides guidance and support for all aspects of recovery to stroke survivors and caregivers. They strive to become the leading patient -focused organization committed to expanding the equitable access to healthcare for stroke survivors and their caregivers.
- The Stroke Survivor Fund is available for individuals experiencing financial hardship to help cover the cost of physical, occupational, or speech therapy.
- Requirements:
  - Be a stroke survivor of at least 21 years of age and reside in the USA.
  - Demonstrate financial need or hardship.
  - Demonstrate that health insurance benefits related to physical, occupational, and/or speech therapy have run out.
  - Demonstrate need for continuing physical, speech, or occupational therapies.
Sunshine Foundation
- As a top-rated children’s charity, Sunshine Foundation answers the dreams and wishes of children, ages three through eighteen, who have severe or profound physical/developmental/intellectual challenges or trauma from physical/sexual abuse, and whose families have limited income.
- Sunshine Foundation’s special dreams can be customized to anything the child desires. Some of the more common special dreams are outdoor play equipment, shopping sprees, family trips, adaptive medical or therapeutic equipment, as well as electronics.
- Requirements:
  - The child must be between the ages of 3 - 18.
  - Must be a citizen of and reside in one of the States or the District of Columbia.
  - The child must be diagnosed with SEVERE or PROFOUND physical, developmental, or intellectual challenges, or trauma from physical/sexual abuse. This is determined by the medical authorization form and supportive medical documents received by the child’s physician.
  - The family’s household’s income must be under $75,000 annually.

The Jiselle Lauren Foundation
- The Jiselle Lauren Foundation is a 501(c)3 nonprofit organization that exists to advocate for, connect with, and provide opportunities for children with disabilities. Through generous donations and giving efforts, they provide financial support to children and their families that allows them access to therapies, medical care, devices, equipment, transportation, and many other resources.

United Healthcare Children’s Foundation
- UnitedHealthcare Children’s Foundation (UHCCF) is a 501(c)3 charitable organization that provides medical grants to help children gain access to health-related services not covered, or not fully covered, by their family’s commercial health insurance plan. Applicants don’t have to be members of UnitedHealthcare to apply.
- Requirements
  - 16 y/o or younger
  - Child must have a SSN
  - The child must have primary insurance coverage by a commercial health plan, either through an employer or individually purchased
  - A family must not exceed the following maximum eligible incomes, as documented on IRS Tax Form 1040.
    - Family Size of 2 – $65,000 or less
    - Family Size of 3 – $100,000 or less
    - Family Size of 4 – $135,000 or less
    - Family Size of 5 or more – $170,000 or less

Victoria’s Victory Foundation
- Victoria’s Victory Foundation is an organization founded on the desire to help others rise above challenges and achieve their own personal victories. As a quality of life organization, they provide awareness and resources for access and inclusion as well as assistance for everyday needs for someone living with a mobility challenge.
- The Victory Scholarship program allows for those with mobility challenges to have access to the resources they need to lead more independent lives. VVF brings hope to those faced with the daily obstacles and isolation that can result from mobility challenges and disabilities. Types of scholarships include: Activity Based Training Sessions, Care Services, Mobility Equipment (examples include: wheelchairs, standers, shower chairs, etc), and Home/Vehicle Modifications.
- Requirements:
  - If you have received a scholarship in the past, you are eligible to reapply, 6 months after your scholarship ended.
  - Applicants must be a United States citizen who currently resides in the United States.
  - The product or services requested must also be located in the United States.
  - The applicant must have a mobility disability that was caused by an injury or diagnosis.
Wheels of Happiness
- The Wheels of Happiness Foundation exists to empower individuals with disabilities to achieve independence and reintegrate into society, adding value to their communities along the way. Through their programs, they equip those with motor disabilities with vital medical equipment, essential supplies, educational scholarships, psychological assistance, and the motivation needed to foster self-sufficiency and enhance productivity.
- The Quality of Life Program is designed to enrich the lives of individuals with motor disabilities by addressing various aspects of their well-being. The WillPower Fund at Multicultural Community Services (MCS)
- The MCS provides grants to families and individuals with different abilities living in Western Massachusetts. MCS Grants specializes in funding products and services that are not typically covered by insurance or other resources, including but not limited to mobility and sensory equipment, therapeutic recreation programs, educational advocacy, private tutoring, and camp expenses.
- Requirements:
  - The grant recipient must reside in Hampshire, Hampden, Franklin, or Berkshire County. Anyone in these counties may apply, but priority consideration will be given to those residing in Holyoke and its bordering communities.
  - Applications will only be considered for products and services that are not easily accessed through insurance or other resources.
  - Letters of support are required. If there is no LOS, the application will not be considered for funding.
  - WillPower Foundation does not accept applications for services already rendered or for balances due to vendors, i.e. past invoices for educational fees, recreational programs
  - WillPower Foundation does not accept applications for funding for computer hardware (i.e. iPads, laptops, etc.). However, applications for funding for specialized software (i.e. communication or educational apps for tablets) are eligible for funding consideration.
