For Massachusetts residents with disabilities, the Massachusetts Alternative Finance Program’s Mini Loan provides zero-percent interest loans of $100 to $4,000 for the purchase of assistive technology products and services.
The Mini Loan is intended to make assistive technology products and services more affordable for disabled Massachusetts residents. At zero-percent interest, the Mini Loan simply divides an item’s total cost into more affordable monthly payments.
We are very aware that many disabled Massachusetts residents go without necessary assistive technology items due to the large up-front cost. We are also aware that going without hearing aids, eyeglasses, dentures, communication tools, vehicle modifications, and other assistive technology devices can create great hardships while navigating daily life. That’s why we created the Mini Loan.

General Eligibility
To be eligible for a Mini Loan, the applicant must:
- be a Massachusetts resident, or applying on behalf of a Massachusetts resident
- have a disability, or be applying on behalf of a person with a disability
- be seeking a loan for an assistive technology product or service necessary to maintain or improve the functioning of a person with a disability as it relates to the disability
- demonstrate the ability to repay the loan
- submit a complete application
- submit all documentation necessary to prove eligibility
General Information
- Zero-percent interest for the life of the loan
- No credit history or a lower-than-average credit score will not necessarily disqualify you from receiving a Mini Loan
- Most loans are divided into 36 months, however, shorter payoff times may be applied based on the cost of the device and/or expected life of the device
- Mini Loans may be paid off early with no penalty
- Loan payments may be made by check, money order, or through our online payment portal
