Adaptive Carriage Driving

Coming Spring 2026! Adaptive Carriage Driving provides an accessible, empowering way to partner with a horse from a secure seated position; ideal for individuals who cannot, or prefer not to, ride mounted. Our program follows PATH Intl.–aligned safety practices and offers individualized, goal-based instruction for ages 5 and up.

Adaptive Carriage Driving allows participants to engage in meaningful horsemanship while seated. Lessons include grooming, harnessing, safe carriage preparation, and guided driving with support from a licensed instructor and trained volunteers.

In the initial lesson, participants complete an intake and assessment to determine goals, comfort level, and the appropriate carriage adaptations.

Adaptive Carriage Driving is well-suited for individuals who:

  • Use a wheelchair or have limited mobility
  • Cannot safely participate in mounted riding
  • Have sensory, cognitive, or emotional needs supported by a structured seated activity
  • Want a recreational or therapeutic horse experience focused on skill-building

Individual Driving Lessons

  • Duration: 45 minutes
  • Cost: $88 per lesson

Current and Upcoming Terms:

  • Spring 2: Saturday, May 2- Monday, June 29, 2026 (no sessions 5/23-5/25).
  • Summer: Monday, July 6- Sunday, August 30, 2026.
